Former NFL Player and Motivational Speaker, Toi Cook, Advises Youths To "Never Quit"

"If you are a winner you will always have an idea, but losers will always have an excuse," states Super Bowl Champion, Toi Cook when he recently addressed 150 kids at Santa Monica High School.

Toi Cook played eleven years in the NFL, and had an interception for the 1994 Super Bowl Champion 49ers. He played on three different NFC West Champions, the Saints, 49ers, and Carolina Panthers, during his career.

Cook now travels extensively addressing youth groups on the importance of never quitting and maintaining a positive attitude.

"Deep down losers hate to see winners, so they will try and stop you achieving success. If I had a dollar every time someone told me I would never play in the NFL for eleven years I would be a millionaire."

"I was also told I would never be a 3 year starter in 2 sports at Stanford, or be able to produce albums and televisions shows while I played. But I did!" continues Cook.

He attended Stanford University from 1983 to 1987 and was a three-year starter in both baseball and football. He was also a starter on the 1987 NCAA Champion Cardinal baseball squad, going 3 for 5 in the championship game, and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints (football) and Minnesota Twins (baseball).

"Everybody who ever had a goal and succeeded has heard the same negativity. Don't ever let someone say you cannot achieve your dream. No one can stop you but yourself.

I leave the audience with a plan on how to create a daily, weekly and monthly goal schedule. In the schedule it is important to Include time for workouts, preferably 1 hr in am and 1 hr of think time by yourself. So if you have to get up at 5:00am to accomplish you should."

"Dreams and success don't come overnight though. Ray Kroc, who turned McDonald's into the world's largest food chain, didn't sell his first hamburger until age fifty-two."

"Never quit," concludes Cook.
