FRIENDS OF NEGRO SPIRITUALS SUPPORTS MOSES HOGAN SINGERS CONCERT IN SAN FRANCISCO

Friends of Negro Spirituals is a San Francisco/Bay Area organization. Our goals:
·    To preserve, celebrate, and to improve the public's awareness and understanding of the Negro Spiritual folk song through educational approaches,
·    To study the origins and history of the African-American and American heritage of the Negro Spiritual folk song,
·    To develop and disseminate educational publications and to offer seminars, lectures, workshops, and other forums to the public on the Negro Spirituals folk music, and,
·    To educate and inform the public about composers, singers, musicians, authors, and others who have contributed and who are contributing to the preservation of Negro Spiritual folk songs

Moses Hogan and The Moses Hogan Singers are known for an a capella musical power, precision, and smoothness that electrifies audiences to thunderous, standing ovations. They will perform old Negro Spirituals and others songs in the concert of 2002! From rhythmic New Orleans, soaring to heights seldom achieved in the music world, 44-year-old internationally acclaimed conductor, arranger, pianist, and, author, Hogan conducts a choir of excitingly gifted singers who can and do sing. The Moses Hogan Chorale performed in San Francisco's Herbst Theatre on November 20, 1999, and the concert sold out one month before the choir came to the city to sing songs like "Hold out your light" and "Amen."
